After a lapse of 23 years in donating blood I felt the time was right to start again. Due to the number of medications I am on I was concerned that I would not be eligible and rang the service to discuss.
Staff could not have been more helpful. They informed me a Dr would ring me and discuss any concerns I had. I expected a phone call would probably come within a week or so. The Dr phoned me the very same day and discussed all medication and concerns I had and explained that over the years rules had changed and I was eligible to give blood.
The next day staff rang again discussing possible appointments and soon got me slotted in to a local donation. Just gave blood today and have to comment the professionalism of all staff. They were courteous, attentive, easy to talk to, caring and ensured that from start to finish I was looked after.
We often complain but I also think it’s important to recognise good work as well.
