"The care my husband received"

About: Musgrave Park Hospital (Belfast) Royal Victoria Hospital / Accident & Emergency Royal Victoria Hospital / Acute Medical Ward

(as a relative),

My husband was taken to the royal 10 weeks ago he got great care in the AE department and there ward overnight could not complain and it was so busy.

He was moved to ward 7C and I can’t say enough about them. Steven the HCA went above and beyond for my husband. His belongings got lost and he went and searched for them and recovered them. Steven went to the shop for him and gave him help to get washed. He helped him to ring me so I could see him.

Steven was caring and compassionate to both of us at a very scary time for us and I am forever grateful. The staff were great but he just went the extra mile to help my husband.

My husband is in Musgrave now and they're fabulous as well, but Steven made a very difficult time better for us.

Good Morning, My name is Mandy Dougan. I am the Lead nurse for acute medicine and cover Ward 7C. I would like to express my sincere thanks to you for taking the time to post these lovely comments regarding the care your husband received as a patient on ward 7C.

I am delighted to hear that the care he received was excellent and that the team were compassionate and helpful towards yourself and your husband during what must have been a very frightening time for you both. It is very reassuring that our staff continue to demonstrate professionalism and empathy for patients and their families to ensure their experience with us is a positive one despite the challenges we face in healthcare today. I will ensure that your compliment is shared with the nurses and doctors who cared for your husband and in particular Stephen who is an inspiration and highly valued member of the ward 7C team.

With the very best wishes,

Mandy

Dear mercurykx93

My name is Linsey Sheerin, I am the Service Manager for Urgent and Emergency Care in Belfast Trust. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience on Care Opinion, I will ensure that your lovely comments are shared with staff. Our service remains under significant pressure and at times patients have to wait long than we would wish for an inpatient bed. Please do not underestimate the impact your kind words will have on staff.

I sincerely hope that your husband is making good progress in his recovery

Linsey

Thank you it was a very busy place. ED was at capacity but we had great care and the staff kept us updated on the plan to move when a bed was available.

We went to ward off ED it was also busy but again it did not reflect on the care my husband was given. We spent a lot of time there but at least we were kept updated and the staff did their absolute best, so please pass my thanks from myself and my husband.
