"Support from staff"

About: North Devon District Hospital / Radiology (X-ray)

(as a relative),

My mother-in-law has just attended the radiology department at Barnstable hospital and as she suffers from dementia, they allowed me to attend and stay with her throughout the appointment.

Just wanted to thank all the staff and nurse Lucy for their understanding and for being so supportive. It meant a lot that I could be there to reassure my mother in law but also I could hear first-hand what was going to happen then and next as my mother in law would not have the capacity to take it all in and remember everything. Thank you so much.

I am a Diagnostic Radiographer with many years experience of working, and imaging patients, in all areas of the Radiology department. I am also responsible for the governance in Radiology and so make sure that we are compliant with the many ionising radiation regulations that dictate what we can and can't do in radiology, keep the patients and staff safe and ensure we are practicing safely. I also deal with our policies and procedures and oversee compliments, complaints and quality.

Dear festivitybk74,

Thank you for leaving us positive feedback, I'm really pleased that you and your Mother-in-Law had a good experience with us yesterday. The radiological environment can be quite intimidating to some patients with all of our equipment and so we always try to ensure patients can feel as comfortable as possible during their stay with us which often means allowing carers and comforters, or relations to attend with them.

We are always looking at ways to improve our service and so if you think there is anything that could have improved our service further for you or your Mother-in-Law yesterday please feel free to contact me.

I will pass your thanks onto Lucy and the rest of the team, who will be very pleased to receive it.

Kind regards

Gill
