"Limited Ambulance service"

About: Scottish Ambulance Service / Ambulance Control Centre Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as a service user),

Today my wife had a seizure for the first time ever.  I called 999 for assistance. The call was put into a waiting line and took around 2 minutes to be answered.

Once through to the service the agent advised there were no ambulances available and that a clinical advisor would call me back.

This is the second time in a few days where we have called for an ambulance (the first time was a suspected appendix burst) and have been unable to have an ambulance attend.

I feel the service is very strained and poor just now.  I understand that there are budget pressures and covid and other sickness absences, but I'm concerned that the limited availability of ambulances.

Dear Sc1993

Thank you for your feedback. I can understand how completely frustrating these situations must have been for you and your family. Please accept my apologies.

It would be really helpful if we could have more information and I will have these matters fully looked into for you. If you would like me to do this for you, please may I ask you contact our team at sas.feedback@nhs.scot with the patients' names, addresses and date of the call for suspected burst appendix.

I look forward to hearing from you

Kind Regards

Lesley
