I’m a Healthcare worker. Last time in clinic I was made to feel like a leper because part of my present work is taking and processing PCR tests for our employees. Because of this, I had been in contact with the odd positive case, but always wearing full PPE, fully vaccinated, distanced, and in their presence for minutes only.
I felt that I was not listened to, but immediately felt like I was treated like a leper (despite having done a negative lateral flow test prior to my appointment and registering it on the Scottish Government’s own website…..) Simply asking me to show proof of this negative test would have avoided me being put into a room and avoided for nearly an hour, while clinic staff seemed to panic and be unaware of what to do in the situation.
This is turn caused me some concern, and I was ready to leave.
The only person I was treated sensibly by that day was the optometrist, who was very kind and pleasant. Nothing was too much trouble.
I’m afraid this experience did not show most staff in a particularly good light, and their concerns re Covid risk seemed even more ludicrous when I was asked to wait in the waiting area which contained several people who were coughing and spluttering away……..
Not their finest moment.
"Blind Panic (pun intended)"
