"Waiting Problems"

About: South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust

Ambulance called approx 4:30am for elderly person who had fallen. Person was in severe pain and jammed in between kitchen cabinets, covered in blood. After several follow up phone calls and one back from ambulance service, the paramedics arrived just before 12:45. So 8 hours later. Many apologies from paramedics who did not realise the length of time taken to get there. Paramedics brilliant. Seems to be call desk priority problem. Patient later found to have broken hip. Another call from a different person in area at lunchtime was dealt with in 2 hours. Priorities?
