"Familiar faces & a healing touch"

About: St Lukes Hospice

(as a service user),

Even after so many years I was overcome by the level of care at St Luke's Hospice and the constancy in staff retention, seeing familiar faces made coming in as a patient as opposed to a volunteer all the more welcoming. Indeed it remains the heartbeat of Brent.

I am deeply moved and grateful for all the wonderful activities and therapies - all free of charge! I could write on every member of staff I have encountered so far, alas I am pressed for space, it is important they all know how very special they are.

However I would like to draw attention to Deirdre who is in charge of complementary therapy department, she doesn't say much except listen yet providing a healing touch. Whilst laying on her couch I sometimes feel like I should cry but I am not sure why, it just sits locked somewhere deep down.

I'm sure time will tell because I do leave feeling very calm and relaxed. There is no room for negativity in her vocabulary tinged with a soft and gentle Irish accent which I really do love about Irish people.

I pray that the level of care at St Luke's will grow from strength to strength.
