"Poor WiFi, mobile reception and TV"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Elderly medicine

(as a relative),

My elderly father (93) has been kept in FVRH for over 4 weeks awaiting assessment and a care package. He’s of sound mind but mainly bedridden. The lack of a proper public WiFi system is causing extreme stress as he’s unable to contact family or entertain himself by browsing the internet. The poor mobile reception means he can’t phone either. On top of it all the TV provided has no remote control and requires manual changing of TV channels. BBC 1 @ station 1 takes a lifetime to change to a radio channel @ 731. It’s technology that was outdated 20 years ago.

Communication with family and friends is probably the most effective and economic medicine that any health care facility could subscribe. In this day and age, there’s no excuse for poor WiFi.

Hello Steny

I am really sorry to read about your concerns, especially that it is causing stress for your father. Being in hospital is stressful enough, and I am sorry he cannot contact you or able to entertain himself on the internet.

Would you be kind enough to contact me so I can ascertain which ward he is currently in, and to see how we help improve this for him please?

My contact details are
