My mother in law unfortunately treated for terminal cancer was admitted to ward 6 Wishaw general. I know the staffing and acuity challenges staff face however despite this , it is clear charge nurse Spence leads a very caring and friendly supportive team who demonstrate patience and understanding. This caring staff group extends to the facilities staff who interacted in a really nice way with all the patients ensuring food and drink choices were offered in a friendly way.
The cleaner for the ward was also a chatty person who clearly cares about her areas and seemed to be a really nice source of interaction for the patients and certainly my mother in law enjoyed their chats.
Lastly , the medical team who spoke to us were superb. The medical registrar Tony (sorry I never caught his surname), was very empathetic and sensible when discussing end of life options for my wife’s mum as was Dr McGonigal from the palliative care team was a source of real support.
As a nurse who spent two happy years in Law hospital , it was really nice to see the friendly staff spirit remains in Wishaw and we could not fault the care received.
Thanks again
"Thank you to all staff"
