"My ten day stay in hospital"

About: East Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust / Emergency ambulance Pilgrim Hospital / Accident and emergency Pilgrim Hospital / General medicine

(as a service user),

The ambulance service was excellent along with my A&E care (apart from not getting a drink all day). My care on the wards was very good partly though due to me being independent enough to get to the toilet etc myself. They were so short staffed though that some patients were waiting a very long time for any help even with drips. Another patient was waiting over a week for a 24 hour heart monitor, and at one point left unattended while complaining of chest pains.

I feel that staff shortages can potentially be a really dangerous problem.

Dear cruxdm53

We are pleased to read that your experience within the department was wholly positive. The staff work really hard and such feedback is welcomed by the team.

Many Thanks,

Kind Regards, Holly Carter- Senior Sister PHB ED.
