"Traumatising "

About: St Thomas' Hospital (London)

I was scheduled for labour induction which started after a few hours and was taken care of by amazing midwives during my entire labour. It was post natal that the whole experience became a nightmare. As a first time mother I expected understanding from midwives and always up to date with what will happen to me and my newborn. Instead we were feeling left confused and always have to call multiple times for them to give us advice. The ward we had to share with 3 other patients was ok but the way they treated us when it was time for the discharge was awful and highly traumatising for me as a mother and I could see that my own child don’t feel as relaxed. I asked from early morning if we could discharge early and the told me after the full checks were done on my child and me we would be allowed to leave. After the full check was done for my child, I was the only one left to have my check. From there it went downhill, we kept calling for a midwife asking what’s happening. In the end my husband made a fuss just to let us have our discharge done. I felt stressed to the point of tears. The ones who helped me during my labour was amazing but the post natal is the worst that ever happened. I will not come here to give birth again.
