"Delayed physio input"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Physiotherapy

(as the patient),

I self-referred to the physiotherapy department under urgent referral, as per my midwife and GP's instruction, when i was roughly 24 weeks pregnant for painful hips. I was struggling to walk due to this and was in a great deal of pain. I was told the waiting time was around 6 weeks. Unfortunately i only just received my letter through to attend physio, my baby was born 6 weeks ago. That was over 21 weeks i have been waiting to hear back from the physiotherapy department. I had to pay privately for my physio, and luckily since i've had my baby my pain is resolving. I am bringing this to your attention to try and stop this happening to other people, especially those who aren't in a financial position to pay privately for physio.

Hi Claire15,

I am sorry to read of the delay in receiving ante-natal physiotherapy and of the pain you were in with your hips.

I am delighted your baby has arrived safely and your pain is subsiding, however, would like to understand where the delays were and how we could have been in contact with you sooner.

If you want to email me on ruth.currie@lanarkshire.scot.nhs.uk with your name, DOB and preferred contact number and I look into this and get back in touch.

Kind regards
