Anything else?
The nurses/doctors forgot to take out my elderly mother's cannula before she was discharged from MAU. I discovered this 7DAYS after her discharge and despite the fact that carers had been going in to her home four times a day. I rang the hospital and was told to bring her to A+E. It was difficult to get her in the car to get there. On arrival we were sent to see a triage nurse who was extremely rude. She chewed on gum, made no eye contact, asked 'why did you come here?' in an very hostile way. She tutted as it took time for my mother to roll up her sleeve to show her and getting impatient she then said 'it doesn't matter, have a seat in minors' She didn't tell us where that was or offer any assistance as I struggled with my mother. We then waited three hours to be seen by a very friendly nurse who dealt with the matter immediately.
As this was the fault of the hospital, I think we should have been offered more help.
