My husband was a patient on ward C22. The way he was treated and dealt with by a member of staff was absolutely appalling. My husband is under a specialist hospital outside of Lancashire, and is diagnosed by two of the best gastrointestinal/colorectal consultants in the UK. Who my husband is still under. A diagnosis which has taken many years, and special advanced testing at the highest level, which was only possible at this specialist Gastro hospital, outside of Lancashire. When My husband fell poorly, he was admitted to Blackburn hospital, via the accident & Emergency unit. The Dr or registrar on the C22 ward, totally disregarded my husbands diagnosis, and made him feel as though he shouldn't of been there. My husband phoned me up, very upset, and just wanted to come home. For someone who is already very anxious about hospitals anyway, this certain member of staff on C22 made my husband feel very unwarranted, and as though he shouldn't be there. Now my husband won't go to Blackburn hospital again. The Dr on C22, should of communicated better with the specialists he is under, or at all, then maybe the Dr would of understood exactly the problems, and complexity of my husbands illness. Rather than making him feel terrible, and as though he was a burden to even be there. If this is the level of service that is acceptable at Blackburn hospital, then it's extremely bleak. When a patient feels very uncomfortable and all the work, that some of the best specialists in the country have diagnosed, and worked so hard to get to the bottom of, is just totally ignored. By a Dr or registrar who my husband has met once. I know NHS workers are under a lot of pressure, and that it has been unprecedented, and challenging times. But this level of care is totally unacceptable. I hope that in the future, this Dr or Registrar maybe corresponds better with the patient or his family, and more importantly with the specialists the patient is under. This is the only issue my family has ever had with Blackburn Hospital. Usually it is an excellent hospital. And delivers exceptional care.
