My husband was a patient on Ward 56 for over 5 weeks after a stroke. We were greatly impressed with every aspect of the ward. Without exception every member of staff was welcoming, helpful, informative, and supportive. The charge nurses went out of their way to keep me informed about all aspects of his progress and care as did the therapists who called with updates and the discharge visit.
At no time was I made to feel I was bothering the nurses, auxiliary nurses, therapists or any member of support and care staff in person or on the phone especially when frustratingly the ward was closed for nearly 2 weeks because of Covid. And all this despite the pressures on the NHS because of coronavirus.
There was a sense of support and camaraderie among the men in the bay despite disparate backgrounds, which was indicative of how comfortable they all felt despite their varying degrees of impairment.
Since he was discharged the personal and referral contact has been efficient and very welcome and we are very appreciative of the help and support we have been given.
In addition, I spoke to the doctor you contacted regarding an updated discharge letter. He said he would let you have that to send to me. If you are happy to email that too, that would be good.
"Good care for my husband on ward 56"
