Mid December last year I received hip replacement surgery and I can only describe the care I received as truly outstanding. Firstly, pre-surgery from Dr Preiss (a true gentleman) and his anaesthetist talking me through the procedure and putting me at ease to after the operation when I was moved to the day surgery unit where my care was exceptional. The nurses couldn’t have done enough for me and this continued into the shift change where I had the pleasure of Catriona and Samantha looking after me , I didn’t appreciate the use of a catheter being mentioned as I don’t perform well under pressure but after some negotiating it all worked out. Apparently the look on my face was a picture. The next morning it was the return of Sheila and Kay from the occupational therapy department who were absolutely fantastic and more akin to a double act but their humour and professionalism was very much appreciated. Once they were happy with my progress it was home time.
My recovery has gone without a hitch and actually much easier than I had expected. I’ve now had my six weekly appointment with Hazel at the arthroplasty department and yet again the kindness and professionalism shone through.
To say I was nervous of the operation is an understatement but the care and compassion shown to me was exceptional. My quality of life has improved immeasurably and I was off all my pain killers within a couple of weeks for the first time in years.
My sincere gratitude to all involved.
"Truly outstanding care"
