"Scared due to previous experience"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Emergency Medicine

(as a service user),

I unfortunately needed A&E care having experienced a worsening in breathing issues. Due to previous experience, I attended feeling incredibly frightened. The thought of having bloods done was incredibly daunting.

However, I cannot believe the care and patience I was given and received. From being triaged by Jo, to being discharged, I felt reasonably calm and really looked after.

Though getting bloods done was a challenge, the doctors were so good. They were 2 GPSTs (I can’t remember their names sorry) and, I appreciated they were really calm and methodical. I didn’t feel like I was just being stabbed at unsuccessfully, which meant an awful lot to me.

A lot of trust has been repaired for me from just one experience and, I am incredibly thankful for that. As a department, they should be very proud. I have emailed the feedback service directly but, I wished to post my story here also.
