My neighbour had a fairly lengthy recovery stay at St Margaret's following a hip break. All the staff that were met on the numerous visits made were very welcoming and more than happy to ensure that arranging these visits was made as easy as possible. Despite the undoubted pressure the NHS is under time was always made available for a reassuring word on the patient's progress and the way ahead.
There was a Covid outbreak during our neighbour's stay which affected her but she was quickly moved to Dundee Ninewells where enhanced facilities are more readily available. As a result she was able to return to St Margaret's on her recovery around two weeks later.
All in all it is difficult to see how her care could have been improved. Indeed her experience is evidence of how highly we should all hold the National Health Service even although as with all institutions sometimes it is the subject of adverse publicity for whatever reason.
