I recently gave birth to my first child at home. The Banbridge Community Midwives Team, especially Paula, were amazing making my homebirth happen.
Due to staffing issues and a late house move the home birth was temporarily called off. But the team was able to offer me a home birth a little bit over my due date. I really appreciate the amount of effort and energy they put into enabling me a home birth this late into pregnancy.
Paula was a fantastic support in the lead up and during birth itself. I felt very safe and trusted in her company and she was very nurturing. Her passion for home birthing really shines through and her trust in me and my body made feel so strong and able to birth. She and her team enabled us a beautiful and powerful water birth at home, which was exactly what I was hoping for.
I know that they are currently building their team and I'm so glad to see this. I hope there will be more capacity to offer home birthing to more women in the future. My birthing experience set me up for a very smooth first few weeks of being a mother. Breastfeeding went really well and our baby was back to their birth weight by day 5.
I really do feel that the care we received before, during and after birth set us up for a great start into family life, which we are very grateful for. Huge thank you to Paula, Diana, Christine and the rest of the Banbridge Midwives Team!
