"Cared for with compassion"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Emergency Department University Hospital Hairmyres / Surgical Receiving Unit (Ward 4)

(as a relative),

My mum was recently admitted via A&E in the early hours. Although she waited to be reviewed by the medical team the A&E team monitored and cared for her with compassion. She was then admitted to ward 4 as no beds in medical receiving and was treated with such kindness and understanding. She told her family that when she arrived in the ward the staff ‘all fussed over her’.

When I called late morning for an update the staff nurse took the time to explain the plan and even asked the medical team a question I had and gave me immediate feedback. Thank you and well done to all staff involved.

Dear octoberhh35

May I thank you for sharing your mum's experience on her recent journey through A & E to ward 4 in University Hospital Hairmyres.

I am delighted your mum received the high standard of care staff strive to maintain. This must have eased your anxiety to know staff were looking after her well.

Good communication is important for family members to understand the plan and care being put in place for their loved ones; I am happy we are getting this right.

I hope your mum is recovering well.

Best wishes

Jean
