"Uncaring staff"

About: Glasgow Royal Infirmary / Accident & Emergency

(as a service user),

I unfortunately ended up in A&E recently with exacerbated asthma symptoms.

I understand staff are really busy however, being left on my own, in pain and having to ask 4 times just for a drink of water, doesn’t strike me as good patient care.

I felt very overwhelmed and ignored, so much so that I discharged against medical advice. Small things would have gone a long way, it takes 2 seconds for someone to ask, was I okay?

Hello, I am sorry to hear about your recent poor experience in our emergency department at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. While as you say this can be very busy environment at times, it should not be the case that you were left alone in pain and that we did not ensure you were offered adequate hydration.

I will share your experience with our department leads as a point of awareness, reflection and learning.
