We were told by our doctors to head to A and E (Lochgilphead), here we were seen by two nurses and a DR , who, having examined my son and found blood in his urine arranged for us to be blue lighted to Glasgow Children’s Hospital, once through triage we were seen by two doctors who examined him and gave him a cannula with the use of “Magic Elsa Spray”. Originally scared my son was reassured and even happy to have it done due to the doctors skill and reassurance. He was taken to have an MRI (this was two In the morning) despite the time they helped my son feel at ease with little jokes and in depth chats about how the machine worked. Fortunately there was no major damage and we were settled into Major Trauma Ward and stayed two nights.
With regard to the way I felt: I was so well reassured by all that staff that it was only during the ambulance ride I was very anxious but the staff helped put me at ease. Whilst in Lochgilphead and Glasgow hospital every member of staff were incredible . The care, compassion, room , food and every member of staff were incredible . My son was so well looked after and reassured. We are so fortunate to have the NHS and the incredible staff as well as the ambulance service and all those who help the hospital function .
