About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske)

(as the patient),

What I liked

I am a retired doctor. Recently I have been an inpatient in Phoenix ward in the Royal Cornwall Hospital and wish to make known the care and kindness with which I was treated.

Every request to the nurses was met cheerfully and willingly. From the tender loving care devoted to the more seriously ill to the uncomplaining attention given to elderly gentlemen with more trivial complaints - 'Nurse, I have upset my bottle and wet the bed'; 'Nurse, I have lost my hearing aid'.

The ward was spotless, the work incessant. Always someone was sweeping, scrubbing, polishing or dealing with mountains of bed linen. I wondered how time could be found for the patients and it always was, cheerfully and kindly. I never heard the off-putting remark 'that's not my job'.

Thank you, nurses. Congratulations to the doctors and all the rest.
