"Everyone kind and professional"

About: Lister Hospital / Older people's healthcare

(as a relative),

Mum was admitted after a fall during a nasty UTI. All staff were unfailingly kind  and on the ball but we were particularly grateful to CSW Kayla and sister Kosi who took a lot of time to reassure and get things right for mum at the start who was often confused with a febrile delirium.  Kayla spent time sitting with mum, listening to her and sorting out her phone and kindle which were a lifeline. Sister Kosi was amazing - on the ball at all times monitoring and tackling any medical or wellbeing issues. She noticed a small pressure sore (came in with) and went to a lot of trouble to source and put up a ripple mattress which helped enormously. She also coped well with me, an anxious daughter phoning regularly with requests about mum's complex nutritional needs etc which she always actioned promptly. I'm afraid I do not remember other staff names but was always impressed by night staff who would update us in the early morning before leaving what I am sure was a long hard shift.

Unfortunately, mum was moved to the 6 bedded ward from a room and the disturbed more noisy patients increased her already high anxiety. I don't know a solution to this and it was certainly no fault of nursing staff. The other thing that could have been improved was the discharge process here she had to wait in the discharge lounge for many hours whilst she got a neg covid test so as she could move to a rehab place. Again worth saying that mum said the staff there could not do enough for her and were always very kind. As a family we are extremely grateful to all the staff - their efforts were noticed and greatly appreciated at a very difficult time - thank you!
