"I didn't feel treated like an individual"

I wasn't going to post this, but I have thought a out it and need to put this up especially after talking to others who have felt the same as me regarding this.

I used to be under a doctor elsewhere, amazing Dr but due to them leaving I have been moved to the service at Hairmyres.

First off. The staff member I spoke to was rude! The attitude was condescending and I felt that I was spoken to like I was a 5 year old! I'm in my 30s I have suffered from migraines since I was extremely young. I have seen MULTIPLE doctors who all agree I have chronic migraines. I did not feel treated like an individual.

I have daily headaches and frequent migraines. They made out I was wrong. That the headaches I have, some are not bad enough. I know there is a protocol but every patient is different. If I score a migraine as a 6 or 7 another person may score as a 9 or 10 this is because I have lived with migraines for over 20 years!! I have learned that my migraines can get worse! I don't class migraines as overly high 9 or 10 unless I'm begging to die - which I have experienced numerous times.

When they said they understood, I honestly felt like the reaction was disingenuous.

How can a flow chart or protocol dictate a patient's pain, pain relief, care when as I have said every patient is different and each case unique? I don't want to be under this care, I want to be under a consultant again who will listen to me and not just aim to placate. I know what treatments and pathways work for me.  Who are they to tell me I'm wrong.

What self-respecting healthcare professional would tell a patient that when they are in extreme pain, vomiting for hours, not to take pain killers because it's not good for you?  Okay so I'll pass out from the pain and get admitted to hospital then. I feel that the NHS needs to re-look at the neurology service when it comes to headaches.
