"Disappointing experience"

This is a follow on post from my previous post re numerous antibiotics. This morning I woke feeling very ill, severe abdominal pain, vomitting, diarrhoea and feeling very dizzy.

Due to my visit yesterday to see the senior nurse at the GP (who incidentally was very good) I thought I should call her to seek advice. I duly called reception and was advised I would be contacted by someone. I called back a few minutes later to ask reception if possible to let the nurse I'd seen the previous day know I'd called.

I was advised this would be done. Some time later I was becoming increasingly more unwell I called the surgery again this time to advise the nurse was out on calls now. I felt again as though I simply didn't matter.

Throughout the day there were numerous calls made initially by me thereafter by my sister, to the surgery in an attempt to get the opportunity to speak to a nurse or doctor however this seemed to be impossible. Due to my worsening condition and my concerns regarding potential sepsis or similar I contacted ambulance.

I provided all the information and was advised I'd be called back for triage. Unfortunately an hour passed and no call back. My sister made calls on my behalf between ambulance service and the GP but it seemed impossible to get any help. I did finally get ambulance to my address and I decided I felt it best to be seen at hospital as no doctor was available at my surgery. Unfortunately the wait at a&e made me feel so much more ill However prior to leaving I received a call from the Doctor at the GP.

Doctor agreed to see me at the surgery prior to closing so I arranged to be there. They were great and carried out tests. Unfortunately I became more unwell the following day and this has resulted in hospital admission. I was saddened however to learn that a specific ear drop was the only thing which would treat my ear infection effectively and the results of my swab some weeks ago had identified the bacteria quite clearly. If this had been prescribed perhaps the last 3 courses of antibiotics could have been avoided and my illness and resulting hospital admission also avoided. So disappointed in the whole story.
