I sadly experience a miscarriage during my first pregnancy in December 2021. I was 11 weeks pregnant and absolutely distraught. Although I knew something wasn’t wrong due to changing symptoms I was still in complete shock when I starting bleeding. At first speaking to maternity triage was very difficult and stressful as no one was taking me seriously and I was told it could be implantation bleeding when questioning if that didn’t happen at the really early stages of pregnancy I was told how did I even know how far I was as I hadn’t had a scan this made me feel so stupid and I started to even doubt if I was pregnant at all in limbo without a scan being able to be arranged as it was during the night.
The next day however a scan was arranged. My midwife was fully supportive and the staff on the phone from EPAS in wishaw and hairmyers tried their best to listen to me and help me.
My scan was at EPAS hairmyers where I was sadly told there was no heart beat. I had broke down there and then but the support offered to me and my husband was great and the options where discussed to me well. Having decided sadly the best option would be to have a MVA procedure this was carried out at wishaw EPAS the next day. I was still and shock and very vulnerable. The support I was given was so touching everything was explained to me and I was firmly told not to blame myself. Through one of the darkest moment of my life I was given a bit of light through compassion care and sensitivity. I would like to thank all the staff at both units. When you are pregnant the reality that you might not get to have a baby at the end doesn’t cross your mind. My world came crashing down but I was carried by angels in uniforms.
"I would like to thank all the staff"
