"Understanding, warmth and kindness"

About: Royal Hospital for Children (Glasgow) / Paediatric surgery ( Wards 3A & 3B)

(as a service user),

My daughter had to have emergency surgery and stayed 4 days in ward 3b at the Royal Hospital For Children Glasgow in January 2022. I actually don't have the words to express just how truly outstanding the care was from every single staff member on the ward, from the auxiliaries to the nurses to the medics/surgeon. Unlike any other hospital ward or medical care facility we have ever experienced.

We were truly taken taken aback and so very thankful for all the understanding, warmth and kindness shown by all staff not only to my daughter, but to myself. All staff were always enquiring if we needed anything and could never do enough for us. I actually don't know how they manage to have the time or the energy in such a busy surgical ward to care for parents as well as the children, but they do and do it so well.

We only spent a few days in Ward 3b , but when we were leaving I felt quite emotional saying goodye to the staff nurse and so very grateful for the depth of care given to my daughter. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for everything.

Dear 1967MM,

What a beautifully emotive post, thank you so much for sharing with us how well our 3B team cared for you and your daughter at what was inevitably a very traumatic time.

It is wonderful to read how our staff provided the best possible patient centred care for your wee girl, and through working in partnership with you to help your daughter get better, were able to support you also.

I can share that our senior management team will take this opportunity to share with colleagues their thanks, as well as ensure they get to see a copy of your post.

I hope your daughter is making a good recovery at home.

Sending warm wishes

Coral
