My optician noticed that I had wet ARMD in my left eye, and told me to go to the local hospital (Whipps Cross) as an emergency. In their eye clinic they examined me and said that in a fortnight I would receive a letter telling me when to attend for treatment. As the optician had said it was an emergency, after a few days I consulted my GP, as the hospital did not seem to regard the condition as as serious.
The GP told me to go to Moorfields hospital immediately. At Moorfields I was given treatment on the same day, and am still undergoing continuing regular treatment. I felt that I had been disgracefully fobbed off at my local hospital, and could have lost vision which could have been saved. Moorfields is treating me well.
