When my 21yr old son said he had sudden severe pain and swelling in his groin area I knew he was worried. A quick call to my sister (who happens to be a nurse ) said an immediate trip to A&E was needed as it could indicate a serious condition..
I took him to the A&E dept at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow and could not fault the care and attention he received there . His details were taken and he didn’t have long to wait before he was taken through to triage while I waited in reception. He was sent for an ultrasound and examined by 2 urologists who were concerned it could be a torsion and would need immediate attention. He was very worried but all the medical staff who dealt with him were excellent and reassuring and couldn’t have nicer . Thankfully, it turned out not to be serious but he was reassured that he did the right thing in going to A&E as it could have escalated very quickly. He did say that when he was through in the cubicles , he saw first hand how amazing the A&E staff coped as it was really busy and also how much abuse they put up with from some patients who they were actually trying to help . So on behalf of my son , thank you so much for all you do and continue to do especially just now in even more challenging times .
"Excellent service at the QEUH A&E dept"
