"Sick child received wonderful care."

About: General practices in Greater Glasgow & Clyde Royal Hospital for Children (Glasgow) / Accident & Emergency

(as a service user),

My child was sent home from school unwell with quite vague symptoms. My GP agreed to see us within the hour, actively listened to us both, provided a thorough examination and we were referred to our local children's hospital for further examination. She was kind and compassionate throughout.

We received excellent, prompt care from the staff at the hospital. A young lady called Bex quickly checked the GP letter and directed us to a private cubicle. Dr Christmas gave my child a thorough examination, again, really listening to what we said and ruling out the most serious causes of this illness. She also had magic ice lollies and apple juice which really helped. Her bedside manner was lovely. Another young woman called Molly carried out an ECG. Again, very kind, professional and reassuring.

After being kept under observation for a while and having all vital stats checked and looking good we were sent home with some great after care advice and the reassurance that if we needed them again then someone would be there to look after us.

I am so grateful for the NHS and the wonderful staff like these women who despite the pressure they were under (due to many factors, most likely none of which they were in control of) provided excellent care. I am sure many people complain when things go wrong and perhaps don't realise how incredible it is to have free at the point of need access to this service. As such, it seems only right to take five minutes to give thanks and recognition to people who got it right.

Dear RS16,

Thank you so much for taking the time to feedback your experience of care at the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow - we were delighted that you and your daughter were looked after so well by our Emergency Team. Although a challenging time for her, I'm glad her time was made better by our yummy magic lollies:-)

It was great to read that your daughters visit was prompt and well supported by Bex, Dr Christmas and Molly, along with our other team members. I can share that our Senior Management Team will ensure they receive a copy of your feedback along with your own thanks.

It is difficult to convey in a short message how grateful we are to you for taking the time to highlight the good service provided by our team.

We hope so much your daughter is feeling so much better back at home.

Best wishes

Coral
