"I finally found the service that understands my cultural and religious needs"

About: CGL Birmingham

(as a service user),

I am 34 years old and a South Asian Muslim  , I have been looking for a faith based drug addiction support program. I went to CGL Birmingham for help and was referred to a service called KIKIT Pathways to Recovery. The program I registered on is called Muslim Recovery Network 12 step program with Islam principles. I finally found the service that understands my cultural and religious needs. Thank God I have now been drug free for almost 2 years , I have got my family back and now setup a local business. Recently I have also setup a  football Sunday league team for young people at risk of drugs and alcohol addiction. Thank you to KIKIT and CGL. , I believe if you reach out and try anything is possible.

Dear Salzp57,

Firstly, thank you for taking the time out of your day to leave some wonderful feedback about KIKIT and our services.

My name is Tasneem and I'm part of the team who listens and responds to people's feedback like yours.

I'm really happy to hear that you were able to be referred to a service like KIKIT that has allowed you to be a part of a faith based recovery drug programme. Being both Asian and Muslim myself, I can fully relate with the need to be involved in a service that not only understands your cultural and religious needs, but are also there to support you.

Having the courage to get the support you needed is a huge achievement, and you should be very proud of yourself. Especially developing a skill set of creating a local business and being drug free for almost two years.

Lastly, I'd like to say a huge thank you for doing the extra part and helping young people at risk of drug and alcohol addiction. Setting up a football Sunday league team is something I imagine many would be thankful for, and you have given an opportunity for young people to be supported, just like you have.

I agree that by reaching out and trying, anything is possible. So thank you for reaching out and I wish you a great future.

Best wishes,

Tasneem
