I appreciated the ASC advocates Hannah and Rikki during my recent experience where I was sectioned at cefn coed hospital.
On arrival and during my stay I felt confused, scared, frustrated and angry.
I remembered ASC from a previous hospital stay several years ago and wanted to get in touch because I remembered that they had been helpful in the past.
The ward staff told me that there were leaflets on the ward but I didn't go looking for them because I didn't feel well enough, they weren't visible so I used my mobile to find ASC's contact details.
My experience of the doctors was that they were elusive and the nurses, although caring, were too busy to answer my questions satisfactorily.
I found advocates Hannah and Rikki very friendly and supportive.
I felt the advocates listened to my concerns, helped me voice them to the medical team and nursing staff and helped me understand what the staff were saying.
I told the advocates that I would be happy to give constructive feedback to ASC abut my experience of advocacy during my stay and was given their contact ASC cards.
I have found readjusting to home life after hospital very challenging and exhausting and have yet to get in touch with ASC.
I am very happy to be contacted by ASC about my experience as a service user and to help in I can.
