"Long wait for ENT care"

Around 18 months ago, I was referred to an ENT appointment. In November the appointment was confirmed for early December. Almost a year and a half wait, during which I experienced some discomfort and no idea how long I'd have to wait for an answer.

During my appointment, I experienced severe pain whilst they were examining my ear and I had expressed this, to no avail. They did not stop for a moment and the pain became almost unbearable by the time they had stopped.

They had found what was causing the discomfort, and said I should come back in early June (around 6 months later.) I feel the problem could have been resolved a long time before then if an appointment had been arranged sooner, and I think that they could have given a bit more priority as I had been experiencing discomfort for a while and it had been getting worse when I decided to go to the doctor and got a referral.

Thank you for taking the time to get in touch to tell us about your recent ENT experience, I am sorry that your experience wasn't a more positive one, this is not what we want for our patients.

You mentioned in your posting that you had a long wait to be seen at ENT, unfortunately due to lower staffing levels and limited clinics, due to Covid, patients were having to wait longer for an appointment. We are now addressing this and hope in future patients will have less of a wait.
