"Exemplary support from the Home Treatment Service"

About: Mental health unscheduled care services / Home Treatment Crisis Response

(as a service user),

I have suffered from recurrent depressive disorder on and off for over 30 years. Luckily I have had many episodes of remission and have been able to hold down my teaching career, get married and have three beautiful children.

My most recent relapse resulted in my decision to retire from teaching after 31 years! I was going back and forward in terms of mental wellness and the intervention of the Home Treatment Team was required and this was excellent. The consultant came to my home and really listened and set out various options including tapering off my antidepressant and introducing a new one. Nurses visited me each day for a week and then every third day. Their understanding of how I felt and their compassion was exemplary. I am now on the road to recovery again and want to thank all of the Mental Health Services whom I have received help and support from; in particular the Home Treatment Team in Newry.
