"I had a great deal of faith in the team"

About: General Practices in NHS Highland Inverclyde Royal Hospital Lorn & Islands Hospital / General Medicine NHS Scotland

(as the patient),

I received the bowel screening pack. I did not do it immediately but got a call from my GP saying to get it done. Did it, waited for the result which came through as positive. Was worried as I had already had surgery on my decending colon 33 years before. I was sent first to Oban for colonscopy and biopsy, result inconclusive. Was transferred to Inverclyde Royal Hospital, Greenock under the Consultant Ms Brown and her team, another colonoscopy, results again inconclusive, but Ms Brown was convinced it was malignant. She arranged a CT scan, followed up with a meeting with me, scheduled an operation. At this stage she was unsure if it would be 'keyhole' or not. Surgery successful, keyhole, confirmed as a maligant tumour, appointment made with oncologist, good prognosis, no chemo and now recovering. I had a great deal of faith in Ms Brown and her team.

Dear Supporter19,

Thank you so much for taking time to post such lovely words on Care Opinion regarding your stay in Inverclyde Royal Hospital, under the care of Ms Brown and her team. It is very reassuring to hear that Ms Brown ensured all investigations were thorough, particularly given your past medical history. She was delighted to hear your kind feedback, which we have passed on to the rest of the surgical team too!

I trust you are recovering well and thank you again.

Heather
