"Appreciation for every single person who helped us"

About: Royal Hospital for Children (Glasgow) / Acute Receiving Unit (Ward 2c)

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter became Very poorly with her chronic illness and was transferred to Glasgow’s Childrens hospital after spending a few nights in another hospital. Unfortunately not long after we arrived, we found out she tested positive for Covid and was immediately moved to ward 2C for isolation. The nurses were fantastic that night and reassured us everything would be ok. The next day the consultant came to see us and explained to my daughter she had nothing to worry about and told her how we would treat her illness, he was fantastic with her.  She spent 4 nights in hospital with the most amazing care, the nurses both day and night were so kind to her, and we were both very well looked after. The play assistants on the ward were great as keeping her entertained and busy, and the cleaning staff kept our room spotless. I cannot thank everyone enough for the help and kindness they showed us and we appreciate every single person who helped us along our journey. Thank you ward 2C!

Dear Mmirishgirl2

I can only imagine how very worried you will have been about your daughter being so unwell, particularly at this challenging COVID-19 time.

I'm sorry that her illness rendered how so poorly, but was pleased to read you were quickly reassured and she was able to receive the comfort, care and treatment she needed from the doctors, nurses and wider hospital team.

It was lovely to read how our Play Team and Domestics supported your daughter, alongside the clinical teams during her time with us.

I can share that our Senior Management Team, Mandy, Melanie and Jamie will pass on their own personal thanks whilst sharing your story with those involved with your daughters care. We delight in recognising the good work our team achieves.

Can I please take this opportunity to sincerely thank you as well for taking the time to feedback to us - we really do appreciate hearing about great hospital experiences, it inspires us to deliver this for every child it's our privilege to care for.

I really hope your daughter is feeling much better now and continuing to recover at home.

Take care

Coral
