What I liked
Neuro ICU & surgical team
No praise could be adequate for this team, who saved our son's life with their skill and expertise. Highly skilled nursing staff who worked like a well-oiled machine. Caring and supportive, they always found time for us and treated our son with dignity and respect at all times.
Moorgate Ward
Efficient and friendly team - our son received excellent treatment: physiotherapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, etc. Nursing staff very caring and friendly and found time to answer our questions. Treated our son as an individual, not as a 'sausage in a machine'.
What could be improved
We did not have the opportunity to speak to a surgeon until about 2 weeks after our son's surgery - but we realise that their main priority is saving lives - the nursing staff kept us as informed as they were able.
The toilets opposite the Neuro ICU could have been cleaner, and one was obviously being used as a smoking room.
Although the hospital was not as clean as the last time I had contact with a hospital (20 years ago), I did not get the impression that it was dirty.
