"Lack of Covid Precautions"

About: Perth Royal Infirmary

(as a service user),

I feel Perth Royal infirmary are a bit lax. People can walk about reception, cafe, corridors without masks, and staff are not allowed to question them. Also no negative LFT is required when attending clinics. Surely when I need  to do an LFT to visit my uncle in a care home, I would need to do one if I am attending hospital.

Dear 'Barley',

Thank you for your feedback, I have shared this with both the Infection, Prevention and Control team and Outpatient department.

Our Infection Prevention and Control team work closely with all areas within the hospital to ensure they are following the correct and update date guidance. At present there are patients and visitors who are exempt from wearing masks and staff can prompt individuals that we encourage wearing of fluid resistant masks but will not question their reasons for not wearing one. If individuals attend the hospital wearing a face covering they are asked to change to a fluid resistant mask.

I have spoken with the SCN in the outpatient department in response to your question regarding LFTs and she has said that the out patient department has a process in place currently whereby all patients are screened prior to entering the department by the reception staff. If the individual fails the screening questionnaire then they would not be permitted to attend without further discussion with the consultant in charge.

We are sorry you thought there were a lack of covid precautions when you visited PRI. I would like to reassure you that our teams all work alongside the Infection Control team to ensure they are following the current covid guidance.
