"Waiting times and noise levels in the Emergency Department waiting room"

About: Blackpool Victoria Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a carer),

I am a carer for my mother, who is disabled, lives with chronic pain and has multiple complex health needs. She attended A+E at Blackpool Victoria hospital yesterday with extreme abdomen pain, and at the time of writing (2 pm the following day) is still waiting in the emergency department. Her blood tests confirmed pancreatitis in the early hours of this morning, at which time (2am) she was told to expect a wait of around another 15-20 hours to be admitted onto a ward.

At this point, she is in huge emotional and physical distress, which has been massively amplified by the loud music being played non-stop in the emergency department waiting room, with the noise of multiple televisions added to that from around 7am. This is extremely inappropriate given people's pain and stress levels, and is especially insensitive towards people like my mother who have sensory processing disorders.
