I first started drinking at a young age, my family are heavy drinkers and I found myself wanting to ‘follow the crowd’. My grandma would often give me a drink with dinner from as young as 5. As I grew up I started using pot as a way to shut my thoughts in my head up. I noticed it had become a problem a few years later. I have experienced physical as well as emotional problems. I was dating the wrong people, my face would often itch and I developed a ‘no one cares’ kind of attitude. I put myself in dangerous situations, treated my body as if didn’t matter, adapted other people around me personalities and I would often sit and self-loathe over how bad things had gotten, I was spiralling out of control.
I finally hit my breaking point last year and contacted CGL to ask for help. There are a lot of different treatment services available and not all of them worked for me. I didn’t finish rehab but then Sian at CGL referred me to sit one of intuitive recovery’s courses. The staff there worked really hard with me and kept persevering even when I had given up on myself time and time again. When I finally sat the course I was grateful they had continued to push me as the skills I have learned whilst sitting the course have really helped. They taught me about Transposing and understanding the difference between IT and I.
I learned that the itch will always be in my head but with the right tools, I no longer feel the need to scratch it.
My plans for the future are to say yes to new adventures. I have started volunteering locally at a puppy centre and am helping with some of the training classes, I recently decided to get back involved in some of my old hobbies and have just signed myself up to take an acting and singing class but most importantly my time with intuitive showed me that I hadn’t failed at anything, I am alive I have survived and after many years I no longer fear being on my own.
