"A&E Experience Positive with Covid"

About: Hereford County Hospital

I arrived the hospital with chest pain and informed reception. I was covid positive Day 1. I was asked to wait outside for a unit as understandably they didn’t want me in the waiting room. After an hour of standing in the dark and cold wind at 2 degrees I was finally showed to the portakabin 20 meters from the front of reception which had been empty the whole time I had been there. Bloods and ECG done and saw no one for 2 1/2 hours. No toilets, no heating. After 3 hours I’ve opened up the heating controls got the heater working. I’ve just seen a nurse who said it could be several hours more before I might see a doctor. I appreciate that things are busy but it’s clear at Hereford Hospital nothing have been put in place to deal with Covid Patients surely by now the hospital should have an effective way to process positive patients without making them stand outside for an hour in the winter darkness and not being able to produce any shelter with toilet facilities with no way to communicate with any staff.
