"''Top class care''"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / 1 North Cardiology

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

Following an open heart transplant at the beginning of December, I have been between the Royal in Belfast and Craigavon Area Hospital. I honestly couldn't fault CAH. My care has been tremendous, right from the HCA's to the consultants. Small things that the staff do, make all the difference. I want to thank Margaret, or as we call her ''Maggie'' for her care. I woke up this morning greeted by a cup of tea at my bedside... what more could you want! Doctor Moore has also been incredible- his positive attitude most definitely permeates across to the other staff. My care plan is made so clear and the staff are approachable. The hygiene is perfect and the food is lovely... I have paid for worse!

I unfortunately caught Covid-19 whilst being in hospital, which was an annoyance, but the staff continued to be resilient and help me get through this struggle. The only complaint I would have would be that one of my windows doesn't close properly. This is manageable during the day but at night it is very unpleasant. I need to have three blankets over me to keep myself warm... I have circulation issues, so the cold air certainly doesn't help.

Aside from that, I honestly couldn't thank everyone enough for my care. I will forever be grateful for the care I have received on 1 North

Hello

Thank you for taking the time to share about your experience of 1 North, its so good to see that it has been a positive experience. I am glad that you felt all the staff here were 'tremendous' I will make sure to pass on your kind comments, particularly to Maggie and Dr. Moore - its always great to get positive feedback.

I am sorry to read that you caught COVID while staying in CAH - it must have been a shock to hear the news, but I am glad you felt supported through this and I really hope you have recovered well.

I'm sorry about the window- if your in this situation again ( hopefully not) please feel comfortable to escalate this to a member of staff so that we can report it to estates to fix.

We really do appreciate your positive feedback, and we hope that you are recovering well after you heart surgery.

Take care, Kirsty.
