"Thanks to all the team to getting me we're I am today"

About: CGL Birmingham

(as a service user),

I have been with the CGL woman's service in Ladywood since July, I've been clean off heroin and crack cocaine since September 16th. I could not of done it without this service! Over 8 years of addiction I have been in a few different services around the west midlands and Staffordshire but Birmingham CGL provides the most support you need to get clean. My support worker has never judged me and always been honest and open with me.

I've been pin pointed to other helpful services through WOMAF. There is so much help out there if you are ready to get clean! I've learnt so many coping strategies and general knowledge in the group's WOMAF have put me through. Honest the group's are really helpful ( I thought I knew it all).

I recommend WOMAF CGL to any women who are struggling with addiction. Some of the staff have their own journeys too which I like as they understand what being a addict is like. Thankyou WOMAF CGL Birmingham for helping me become myself again. Words can't express how much they have helped me. Most of the support I was offered I didn't no  even existed!

Thanks to all the team to getting me we're I am today.

Dear LucyT

Thank you for sharing your wonderful story of recovery with us.

I'm Lydia, one of the team of people who listens and responds to people's thoughts and feelings about our support.

Your achievement of becoming heroin and crack free within just three months, is truly inspirational! Especially after the many years you'd spent battling your addiction. I hope you feel super proud of yourself, and of all the challenges you must have overcome along the way.

Thank you for your kind words about our Women and Families Team. It's really great to hear that its been the most helpful service you've used in your recovery and that the team have done such a great job in connecting you with the right support networks.

I'm really glad that you found the groups you've accessed helpful and thank you for your honesty about thinking you knew it all. It's refreshing to hear that despite your belief around this, you were still able to keep an open mind and benefit from types of support you may not have expected to. All credit to you for not saying no, and for giving things a go!

I will pass your feedback onto the Team Leader at the Women and Families Team who will share this with the whole team, so they can read for themselves what a huge difference their support has made to your life.

I hope other people in need of similar help will read your words, and that they motivate them towards seeking and accepting all the support they are offered in the future.

Take care, stay determined and keep moving forwards!

Thanks again for sharing,

Lydia
