In November my wife became very ill with no obvious cause. She was 80 at the time and our GP referred her to the Midlothian/NHS Hospital at Home team. A doctor and three nurses arrived within a short space of time and gave her a long and full examination. This was followed up the next day by a visit from two doctors who said the tests had been OK for the most part and handed her over to their Physio team. Unfortunately she suffered a mild TIA that night. The Hospital at Home Doctor organised an emergency brain scan at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary and this was followed up by a phone call then a visit from Dr. Cantley, the Hospital at Home consultant and Dr Sylvester.
Dr. Cantley was a little concerned about the possibility of Parkinson's Disease and arranged a consultation with a Parkinson's specialist. This will take place tomorrow, but last Thursday my wife became ill again and again the Hospital at Home team took over and again she has been seen daily by Hospital at Home nurses
We cannot begin to explain how impressed we have been by the Hospital at Home service and how grateful we are. They are doing a fantastic job.
"Fantastic hospital at home service"
