"I found the routine of coming each week helpful"

About: Community Forensic Services / Nottinghamshire MBT Service

(as a service user),

I have just finished 10 sessions of MBTi with Notts MBT Service, the group helped me understand more about BPD and ways of understanding and managing emotions. I learnt about mentalizating and how to think more about acting on my emotions. I also found the routine of coming each week helpful, knowing if I have any issues I can talk about them each week in the group.

I think slightly larger group sizes may be helpful as listening to different people made me realise I wasn’t alone. Also, with the smaller group numbers if 1 person didn’t attend it ended up being a very small group.

Thank you for posting this feedback, I am pleased that you have had a positive experience in attending the MBTi group. It is good to hear that you felt that it helped promote your own understanding, this is a significant function of the introductory group programme. I would agree that meeting others with similar difficulties is an important factor in the treatment being delivered in a group setting and small group numbers will impact on this. It is disappointing when the numbers fall in a group and this has been particularly challenging for us as a service with having to work within current COVID guidelines. Thank you for your understanding with this. Your feedback is appreciated and your thoughts on what may improve the MBTi programme will be shared with the team.

Best wishes,

Clare Lloyd
