"Ten sessions with the MBT Service"

About: Community Forensic Services / Nottinghamshire MBT Service

(as a service user),

I have just finished 10 sessions of MBTi with Notts MBT Service. I found it helpful meeting new people with similar struggles, listening to other people’s opinions and thoughts. It was helpful to learn about mentalizing (it’s quite complicated) and I liked the group work too. But when the numbers fell (can’t be helped as due to sickness) to 3 or below did make me feel uneasy. I did think it helped knowing one of the facilitators already.

We did experience some initial disturbance in the group as one member wasn’t ready, but this was managed by the facilitators. Some of the sessions were difficult to understand and I wonder whether longer sessions and larger groups might be more helpful. I did find the time of the group awkward and would have preferred earlier sessions (rather than in the middle of the day).

I found the facilitators were really nice and approachable, made me feel comfortable and were really nice people, thank you Rob & Zena for your time and making the sessions pleasurable!

Thank you for posting this feedback, I am pleased to hear that you have had a helpful experience in attending the MBTi group. I would agree that meeting others with similar difficulties is an important function of the treatment being delivered in a group setting. It is disappointing when the numbers fall in a group and this has been particularly challenging for us as a service with having to work within current COVID guidelines. Thank you for your understanding with this. It sounds like the facilitators were able to offer you a positive experience of being in the group and I am pleased that you felt they dealt with initial disturbance. Your feedback is appreciated and your thoughts on what may improve the MBTi programme will be shared with the team as we currently look to review the MBTi programme. I will ensure that I also share your feedback with the facilitators.

Best wishes,

Clare Lloyd
