I have always drunk a 'normal' range of alcohol but after retiring, with no longer any work or family commitments to restrict, this range shot up over a period of years to an extremely unhealthy level. Then I found I couldn't stop or live without having that much alcohol, mostly every day. Having heard about medication to assist, I contacted my GP who referred me to Inclusion, Fareham, Hampshire. Colin, a stand in from Aldershot, spent a great deal of time and effort explaining the support available to me on the telephone, which could include medication. He referred me to Carly who reinforced Colin's work with me, set up a regular phone appointment, sent me resource material and a work book (which had so much useful information and direction in it). She has also booked me an appointment to see a prescribing counsellor later in Jan 2022 who may recommend Nalproxene as my ideal crutch to aid my determination to reduce severely or completely my addiction to alcohol to safe levels once again and to get my body healthier and my mind stronger to cope without it. I may also consider acupuncture but need some more information first. I found Inclusion, and the people I have spoken to so far, very supportive and not dismissive of my position which, I wrongly felt, was not sufficiently deserving of their attention.
