It's not so much a story as a high commendation of two members of the Omnipod Insulin Pump Clinic in the Ulster Hospital. I was back for my second check up since embarking on the Omnipod Pump in June 2021.
Previously I had seen the very gifted DSN William who two years ago gave me the assurance that my control was sufficiently good that I probably didn't need to change from my multi-injection regimen. However, when I since heard about the omnipod tubeless pump I was determined to give it a try. William and his team of Jaqui and of course the very experienced Dr Harding, was superb in the days when we (myself plus the other 5 new-starts) were fitted via Zoom with the equipment. We were given some superb advice and reassurance that the team were there for us and open to our emails and / or phone calls regarding results from carb-free meals or anything else which arose.
William is also a technological genius in that he has a fine working knowledge of the PDM (Personal Diabetes Manager) gadget which accompanies the pump. He sorted out a problem with mine and advised me accordingly.
I am pleased to say that my HbA1c has improved
Dr Harding is also extremely knowledgeable and painstaking in their approach. They took plenty of time to assess my.progress and make tentative suggestions, acknowledging that the patterns of control were not sufficiently well established for me to make any changes to the settings just yet.
I am very pleased with the progress which this amazing new technology has afforded me. All credit to the team at the Ulster Hospital Dundonald. Bravo to all!
