I recently got in touch with my local Peterhead GP practice about my 15 month old son who had been poorly for 4 days. I had originally tried the new eConsult system to book however it came up with an alert message to call and make an emergency appointment.

I called at 2pm for a same day appointment and received a call back within 10 minutes from the nurse practitioner, Michelle. After a short discussion on the phone she was quick to decide to take us in for a face to face appointment at 2:30pm.

Michelle was so lovely and provided diagnosis and treatment within 10 minutes after checking him over. I was made to feel very reassured that I had been doing all the right things up to the lead up to his appointment and was happy taking him home with the treatment she had provided.

The Practice was well organised and adhering to the COVID guidelines with sanitising stations throughout the building. I then picked up my son's prescription from the pharmacy within the same health centre who also provided a really good and quick service.

Thank you so much for getting in touch about your visit to Peterhead Medical Practice with your 15 month old son. I hope he is feeling better now and back to his usual self.

It genuinely means a lot to staff when patients and their families let them know what a great job they’ve done. Your story highlights how important it is for parents of wee ones to be able to access the help they need and I’m glad the e-consult system directed you to call the practice and into the hands of the efficient and caring Michelle – who will be delighted to know she provided all the re-assurance and treatment you needed to feel comfortable going home.

It’s also re-assuring to know the practice felt well organised and that the service from the pharmacy was quick.

Your feedback has been shared with the Practice Manager at Peterhead who was very grateful for your kind words and will ensure it is shared with everyone involved.
